Annual Meeting Minutes

October 2, 1998

The meeting was called to order by Bill Stone, President. Minutes were distributed and approved.  Twenty-five members were present. Wes Johnson agreed to take minutes for Joy Pollack who was out of the country.

Bill Stone reported the Association’s bank balance at $707.

Richard Becker spoke regarding accreditation/certification issues effecting Texas colleges and universities.   Concerns regarding the need for such a process and possible ramifications resulting from its implementation were discussed.

Bill Stone spoke regarding the CJ Field of Study review.

Phil Rhoades moved to accept the recommendation of the Criminal Justice Field of Study Committee on the content and nature of the Criminal Justice Field of Study.  The motion was seconded, a vote called and the motion passed.

Bill Stone then turned the meeting over to Richard Becker, the new TACJE president for 1998-1999.  Becker discussed the need to select a legislative officer to serve as a "conduit" between the legislature and the association.

A motion giving the President the power to appoint such a representative for one year was proposed, seconded, and passed.

Bob Walsh was nominated and elected as the Association’s Vice-President for 1998-99.

The motion to adjourn was unanimously passed and meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
