Career Day!

Each calendar year, typically in late January or early February, the Criminal Justice Department at Texas State invites numerous criminal justice agencies and private security firms to campus for a career fair.  Invitee attendance at the event has traditionally been approximately fifty participants, including representatives of local, state and federal law enforcement and corrections employers.  The event is conducted in the Main Ballroom of the LBJ Student Center and normally lasts approximately four hours, historically between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to familiarize Texas State students and former graduates with career opportunities, both current and future, as well as to provide prospective employers with opportunities for recruitment while visiting our campus. In addition to exploring full time employment, attendees may discover opportunities for internships with agencies as well, both paid and unpaid.

The event is not limited to current Texas State criminal justice students.  In fact, the function is advertised campus wide in order to offer similar opportunities for Texas State students from other disciplines.  Graduates of Texas State are always more than welcome to return to campus and attend as well.

For information concerning the identities of anticipated agencies in attendance from year to year, one should consult the Career Day link on the departmental website in early January, or for other information please feel free to contact the departmental office at 512-245-2174.
