TXST Cold Case Team

A New Opportunity

Texas State University (TXST) has partnered with the Texas Office of Attorney General to create the inaugural TXST Cold Case Team to help investigate unsolved crimes in the state.

The TXST Cold Case Team is a one-year internship program enabling TXST students in the School of Criminal Justice and Criminology to work with the Office of the Attorney General’s Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit (CCMPU). This elite team of students will work side-by-side with the CCMPU to assist law enforcement agencies across the state with investigating unsolved homicides in Texas.

Requirements

As a special division of the CJ Internship Program, interested students must meeting the following requirements for consideration:

  • Overall GPA of at least 2.25
  • CJ GPA of at least 2.50
  • Completion of the following Criminal Justice courses:
  • — CJ 1310 (Introduction to Criminal Justice)
  • — CJ 2310 (Police Systems and Practices)
  • — CJ 2350 (The Courts and Criminal Procedure)
  • — CJ 2355 (Correctional Systems and Practices)
  • — CJ 2360 (Fundamentals of Criminal Law)
  • — CJ 3346 (Research in Criminal Justice)
  • — CJ 3347 (Statistics for Criminal Justice)
  • Be able to make one-year (full 12-month) commitment, beginning in June

Completion of 75 total credit hours (including the 21 required CJ credit hours listed above) is preferred but not required. Students may apply if they have not met that threshold yet.
